Blue rocks

Sun? What sun? I live in Western Oregon. We don't have no stinking sun around here. No seriously we don't get much sun, also my birds spend most of the sunny days in the shade and this roo was kept in a shady breeding pen most of the summer.

I've been working on a blue barred rock breed project. The 3rd generation is just starting to get their pin feathers in and I'm really tickled with how it's turning out :) They are just so CUTE I can hardly stand it!!

Adorable babies!! I hatched a bunch from Halo last Easter and will set some of their eggs this Easter. Can't wait to have little blue fuzzy butts again. Last year I processed the extra roos about 6 months or so. They make a nice meat bird too.

Here are my young blue hens and barred roo - two questions - one, how do they look re the standard, and two, the roo has a single barring gene from his looks, right? I just read that means I might get both barred and solids out of him with the blue girls - I thought that I would get all barreds, 50% black and 50% blue, but I would love to get more solid blues.
