Florence, the Blue Runner, is the same age as Donna, the fawn in the back.

"She" has no tail curl and the quack is quite load without any rasp... However, she also displays aggressive behavior such as running up to me and puffing her chest and doing that repetitive grunting thing. She's also visibly larger than her sister and they are both 21 weeks with no eggs.

What do you think?

If you are wondering about the peeps, I was introducing two new babies to them. Made for a good quack demonstration.

I don't have any audio of Donna attempting to quack but she's terrible at it. Such a sweet quiet girl.

My son had a muscovy female, two pekin females and a pekin drake. One of the pekin females is noisy [very loud] but the other rarely made a sound. Then we moved the drake as he was bullying the muscovy, and the silent female was transformed -- she took on a drake like role coming forward and threatening anyone who entered the backyard. She also started quacking loudly. Later we introduced another pekin drake, and the female who had stepped up to take on drake behaviors, went back to being a near silent docile female!! She is an exellent layer.

I wonder if you, @Grayson128, have a drake? If not Florence may just be adopting that role

We do not have a drake. That may be a big part of the explanation for her enthusiasm.

She sounds just like my blue runner Dolly she is loud and bossy!!! She will walk up to me and tell me all about it! When she gets excited she also does this sort of clicking quack!
"Walk up and tell me all about it" is pretty much our mornings together.

Thanks for everyone's input, it's actually surprising how little info is out there for this specific breed.

I guess she's just our big, bossy girl!
