I've looked at alot of serama pictures but I'm trying to recall if I've ever seen any blue ones. Do they have a blue gene in them or is this color missing? Or did I just miss those pics?

He has the CUTEST little speckled chick in the brooder. His girls' eggs were the ones (2 batches) I lost last week during a power outtage, except for the one little speckled baby and 2 LF chicks.

There's lots of blue in Seramas, but usually it's not JUST blue. There's such a kaliedescope of genes in Seramaland that you usually find blue mille fleur, blue tailed buff, blue mottled, etc. as opposed to just plain blue. It exists, but there's usually other genes playing in the phoenotype as well. There's also a lot of diluters that soften the blacks and reds. I've not yet seen self blue, or lavender.

I agree, even if you did find one, it shouldnt breed true being a serama, they all are just loaded to the brime with colors/patterns. I have yet to hatch the same color twice out of ours in 3 years of having them

The one that I posted in the link breeds mostly true throwing blues and blacks with off colored hackles! There are several breeders that have whites that breeds true!!! They are planning on 2011 for the acceptance year of the whites! the blacks, wheatons, black tailed buffs, and a few others! These all have to breed 75% true( I think thats the percent in the standards). Some breed true and others dont! I am currently working on Wheatons and Gray Silkied Serama( using the color standard for Gray Silkies)!

that's good to hear. I guess mine do stay close to the same, mostly bb red styles, buffs, creams, brown, and mottled, just slight variations in the pattern or color each time, but no two are exactly alike
