I'm pretty sure this is a Marans rooster, should be a pullet. I have a blue EE as my only reference, as the other two of the same age are different breeds AND runts. Small but pink comb, and some pointy looking feathers. No rooster behavior yet, legs are thinner than my blue EE pullet. What do you think? 5 weeks old.

Look like pullets to me. This is a Blue Splash Marans cockerel.

This is a ten week-old Blue Splash Marans pullet, so they do have a lot of red in the wattles/comb even as a female:

Oh yay! That’s encouraging, I’m not allowed to have roosters, I was pretty heartbroken with the last one I had to get rid of.

Ditto, I had a mystery chick added in with my bunch of assorted silkies last summer that turned out to be a Plymouth White Rock cockerel, by far the biggest lap chicken of my flock, so beautiful and big and friendly - I hated having to give him up, but I live in the suburbs and once he started to crow he was obnoxiously loud.

On the bright side, Mayflower made me realize that I actually really enjoy the look of a traditional large fowl breed, so I'm slowly swapping my flock over to Orpingtons and other large floofy heritage types.

It seems bit red...but could just be exertion flush.
Does it look that red when calm and relaxed?

Yes, a couple more weeks may tell the tale.
