Blue- The Miracle Chick

Chapter 1- The Hatch
A day ago, Pickles and Kiwi had already moved to the brooder, Blue was still in the same state as she was before; partly zipped. We were getting worried, they tried to research what to do- but they didn't have BYC!
"A couple more hours, MAYBE she'll do it?" I said.
Hours passed, she was wriggling and wriggling, but she was just not strong enough. My dad suddenly opened the incubator, and carefully pried the shell open. When he closed it, it took a few minutes, but little blue managed to break free. We all cheered, but inside I wasn't sure she'd survive.
She was very weak, and the eggshell was still attached to her butt. She struggled to stand, but eventually, she stood up, and kicked the shell away.

Stay tuned for part 2!

Chapter 2- her chick struggles
When Blue was dry, we moved her to the brooder. She couldn't walk, and we were worried about her getting trampled on.
We made a little cardboard room inside the brooder, under the heat lamp, for Blue.

After that, we tried to sort out her curled toe. We made her a little cardboard shoe.

That evening, she screamed and screamed, she was lonely. Her brothers were huddled on the other side of the cardboard, trying to see her. We took away the cardboard, and they all huddled together under the heat lamp.

But she was still struggling to walk. We diagnosed that she had splayed leg as well. We tried to fix it, but all our methods didn't work, she was too squirmy. We ended up taking her to the vet, who put some special tape on her legs, it did help (even though it fell off that evening).

Her legs were fixing themselves now, and with Blue learning how to eat and drink, we thought everything would go smoothly. But, all the handling we did with her stressed her out, and she developed pasty butt. We cleaned her for the next week, and I got her to trust me a bit more. And the pasty was gone.

Chapter 3- Blue's recovery
Over the next week, Blue's splayed leg deteriorated. But her shoe fell off, I was worried at first, but I started giving her foot massages, to move that curled toe.
AND IT WORKED!?
She had made full recovery.
But she was still smaller, lighter, and weaker than her brothers. In this photo here, you can see her size in comparison (she's in the middle)

Thus was worrying, but she was still putting on weight, and growing. She was like a normal chick.
Since then she grew and grew, and overcame all her problems.
She went on garden trips with her brothers, moved into the SUPER BROODER... Etc
In the last pic she's in the middle.
