Blue Wheaton x Blue Birchen = what color offspring?

I know I’ve been asking way too many questions here, but I keep having ones pop up as I nail down what 4 chickens I’ll be adding to start my little olive egger project.

If my rooster is a Blue Birchen Marans, and I breed him to a Blue Wheaton ameraucana, what color plumage will the offspring have? I need a crash course on the blue Wheaton/Wheaton genetics. Does it work like BBS? And how will those 2 things interact?

I will definitely be getting a Blue Ameraucana to cross with the Blue Birchen Marans rooster so I’ll def get some BBS Olive eggers (right? Haha). But if I also get a blue Wheaton Ameraucana I’m curious if they’ll make pretty olive eggers or jumbled messes of olive eggers.

If you look at Mandelyn's post in this thread, you'll see that if you cross two Blue's you get about 1/2 Blue, 1/4 Black, and 1/4 Splash. So you will have those variations.

Birchen is dominant over Wheaten so all the offspring "should" look Birchen. The basic pattern will be. But as we discussed, expect leakage.

I assume your Wheaten is based on Gold. Is your Birchen a Silver or a Gold? What color are his neck feathers? That will determine some colors in the offspring, whether the "non-black" portions are silver or golden. Remember the B/B/S gene only affects black feathers. There could easily be some other modifiers in the mix that can affect shades or tints, but the basic pattern should be Birchen.
