Blueish comb

Hi - we’ve noticed one of our 4 y/o laying hens’ comb is blueish (purple?) at the edges in the evenings. In the morning, it’s red and seems fine again. We’ve been watching this for a few days now. She otherwise seems fine. Is this an issue?

There are a lot of things that affect comb color. Hormones, temperature, stress, etc. If she seems fine otherwise, then I would just keep an eye on her. Sometimes a bluish or dark comb can indicate a heart problem, not enough oxygen, but it can be from other less serious things too. I've had healthy birds get a dark or purple comb after being really upset by something, and then it goes back later to normal.
