BlueSplash Silkie ?

blue to blue 100% blue Incorrect. 25% black, 50% blue, 25% splash FIXED IT I WAS IN A HURRY!

Incorrect. Breeding white to anything nonwhite is unpredictable. The white is as likely to carry gold as silver. THANTS WHAT I SAID! But just hope the whites are a pair because the whites are recessive and its hard telling what can come out of breeding them to bbs. forgot to put bbs. like I said it was late took all i could to hold my eyes open!

So if I breed a blue and a blue I could get black(right)

The gold gene(brassy gene) is the same as silver exept it has the brassy effect on top of it this shows up all the time in white Cochins i only gave the silver hackle on blue for an undesirable affect example there can be many posibilities on what you can get

I have been after good quality blacks with no luck but in my last hatch I ended up with 3 blues... Looks like a long wait for blacks

It is not the presence or absence of silver/gold that causes off-colour in the hackles. These genes are ALWAYS present in every bird. Every female is either S/- or s+/-; every male is either S/S, S/s+ or s+/s+. You can have a perfectly coloured blue or black bird that is either silver or gold based, and shows no off colours in any portion of the plumage.

Off coloured hackles are caused by the presence of not-melanizer genes. Their alternate alleles (melanizers) extend the eumelanin (black pigment) into the hackle area. Additionally, autosomal red can and does add red pigment, especially on male shoulders and wings.

If you want only blacks, ask for offpsring from black to black breeding (or if you are pairing the birds yourself, the same). There are a few breeders that specialize in blacks and do not have blues.

I breed black to black but I also get blacks from my blue to blue breedings, what's the difference. Just curious.

Breeding blues into the mix will give you less than 100% black, not the goal if you only want blacks.

There is also the question of losing melanizers if you are breeding with diluters.
