Hi good company!
This morning I went to collecty eggs and I encountered the most surprising blue egg that my Easter egger ever laid.
I'm wondering what could be the cause of this? I know that the blue is due to a different cellular pattern in those chickens, originating from molecule working with/from the liver (my exact knowledge of this is a bit rusty, sorry). Is it normal ? Does she have a metabolic problem or something?
She just started laying again after about a 3 months break. We got a couple of normal blue eggs before this one.
She's my only blue/green layer. She's 3 years old, Ameraucana mix (was sold to me as an Ameraucana, when I was still so naive haha)
Picture attached show 2 normal eggs on the left, next to the very blue one. It's almost a dark peacock teal.
The ones on the left are really sky blue, even if they appear white-ish in comparison of the hue of the new one!
