BlueTheBrahma’s thread!

I can’t remember what I have and haven’t said, but the hens are all staying.
All the cocks are gone, the young cockerels will have to be rehomed, unless I find appropriate land to get them on, which is unlikely at this point in time.
Which means no hatching eggs, a financial blow to the whole arrangement.
I’m getting pullets from the last lot of eggs I sent to be hatched soon (they hatch today), to restock one final time.
After that, I’ll have to buy all new layers, and hope the purebreed hens hang on long enough to make it to wherever I end up finding a solution, if anywhere.

I might be moving within a few years anyway, so I’ll be factoring location and land in then.
That's tough but I'm glad you'll at least be able to keep the ladies. Hopefully you find a nice place where you can continue breeding.

I know I will get back into breeding at some point, even if it’s a few year’s time. It’s more a matter of when, but it’s a frustrating delay on all my plans.
Until then, I guess I’ll have to stalk all you lot and your projects!

I’ve probably not got photos of all of them yet but I had 6 marans delivered today. 4 dark cuckoos and 2 black coppers. All from extremely dark eggs and very good quality birds. Worth the wait.

I’ve named that cuckoo pullet I’m holding Ozzy. @wrathsfarm a name I’m sure you’ll appreciate. One other cuckoo has escaped and after hours of chasing her I have lost her! Hopefully she finds her way back tomorrow!

This is great news, my friend. Looking forward to seeing pics.

That's a great name. I haven't disclosed it to my thread yet. But I named my 2 (M&F) Black Silvers... Ozzy and Lita.

And with that I've got names picked out for W/R, W/W, P/G and P/O but haven't designated who is who just yet.

Doro (Warlock), Maria (In this Moment) Alissa (Arch Enemy) and Jinjer.

Apologies for falling behind here, I'll catch up.

I've been noticing some darkness in my pullets combs down low towards the beak. I see your one BC has it also. Do you have any insight on this? I don't remember seeing before but all of a sudden I have a few and have been wondering about it, if it means anything or just normal.
