I have two Buff Orpingtons and two Barred Plymouth Rocks.. Almost every day, I get two (almost identical) very light, of the palest brown eggs(almost cream) and two identical , slightly darker eggs...

SO, who lays what? I, actually, saw them laying eggs at the beginning..but both breeds have changed---gotten lighter, less pink and larger.... Since I am trying to keep a record of my eggs, who lays them, what the weather was that day and how much they free-ranged the day before....I would like to have a better idea of which egg belongs to which breed.... Any ideas? Thanks

In my flock, the BO eggs are lighter and more uniform, the sexlink (half BR) eggs are darker and often almost have a "dusty" looking coating on them.

My Buff Orps generally lay rounder, broader eggs, but not always. One of them does lay a pearly cream-colored egg. One lays a jumbo, light beige egg with some tiny speckles. The youngest one lays a very rounded, pinkish egg, flat finish, no speckles. The BRs lay darker than that and more "egg-shaped" eggs, more elongated, that is all except one. She lays a very rounded creamy egg. Hard to make generalizations, really, since it's a more individual thing.
