I was putting the flock to bed and as usually my BO jumped out to the grass and ate a piece of the fence with paint on it (about the same size as this piece in the picture below) will she be okay? It will most likely digest in her stomache over night right? I'm am pretty sure she ate this but I couldnt see it fast enough to tell before she ate it but found this piece near by and figured.

Can you put a quarter in for comparison? What is the fence made out of? Do you know what type of paint?
Wood I believe and then the paint is a outdoor type paint I think. Paint for outside mostly

I’d just keep an eye on her and make sure it doesn’t get stuck in her crop. And that she’s still pooping normally. If it passes through her crop she will probably be just fine. Check her crop in the morning before she gets down from the roost to eat.

How would I know if it was stuck in her crop? I have no clue if the piece was smaller than that but I do know it was a point on one end but not 100% sure. She eats everything she sees.

The crop is the pouch on the front of the chicken where food goes right after they swallow it. You can feel the crop easily, because it just has a layer of skin over it.

In the evening the crop probaby feels like a big ball, because it's all full of food.
By morning the crop is usually empty, and it shrinks and becomes hard to find.

If you feel in the morning and the only thing there is a hard piece of wood, you can assume it's stuck, because if it was not stuck it would have passed on like everything else.

The reason for checking very early in the morning, before the chicken eats, is because it's pretty easy to tell if the crop is empty or not, but rather difficult to tell what is in there when it's full.

And if you aren't sure whether it feels normal or not, just grab a few other chickens and feel their crops for comparison.

thank you. I was wondering how would feel the wood because I know where the crop is but this really helped. I will check her in the morning and hopefully, it passed through. Should there be a plan B if it didn't or should I start worrying tomorrow when I check? LOL

Don't worry until you check tomorrow.
It will probably pass through just fine, and finding that out by checking can let you quit worrying ;)
If it really is there in the morning, then ask on here what to do.
