BO Gender?

Definitely a cockerel, the saddle feathers give him a away. Looks like a RIR crossed with a Buff Orp, rather than a pure Buff Orp.

I got mine from a guy at a poultry swap thay SWORE he was a she... Now I have 7 roosters and 2 hens. I have no luck with chickens.

That color is not "buff" - it's red. Most places, including mypetchicken, substitute if they don't have enough of what you want. Either that or a "rhode island red" got in the henhouse. Buff Orps don't have that much red. However, plenty of red chickens do have light colored down.
