We have five girls, one of which is wanting to set. We do not have a rooster. I am currently getting the eggs out from under her every day. I was told to put fake eggs under her. If so for how long should she lay?

She won't lay again until she decides to stop being broody. Some hens will set for months - to the point that they become debilitated. To break her broodiness there are many techniques. The very simplest is to lock her in an area away from her nest site until she stops being 'clucky'. This will take a matter of days or weeks not hours. [IMG]
