Too bad. All the hens and other roosters are thrilled he's in jail!
If, he had been a little better behaved, he wouldn't have ended up in there.
I threw this together from some left over roofing and a few 2 x 4s. He has a roost, PVC pipe feeder, lots of shade and a 2nd hand waterer. It is 3' x 9' and weighs about 150 lbs. Winds have only hit 30 mph since he moved in, so we don't know when he'll get blown away. Easy to move with a hand truck. I think I'm into this thing about $30.
UPDATE 5/31/2009 - Some of you may remember the story of Bob and his lack of social skills. He was parrolled a couple of weeks ago and was just not the same old Bob. He was having trouble being accepted back into society and just sat by all by himself away from all the other chickens. A broken spirt of a chicken, was all that remained of the once proud super rooster. The only ones that would hang around with him were the youngsters.
Today, we had a nice couple from a nearby farm come over and pick up some 16 week olds, to add to their roosterless flock. They agreed to take Bob. So, Bob now has a flock of his very own.
A true happy ending to the sad story of Bob. He went to live on a farm.
