Bobtail genetics

I believe it’s basically recessive, but I don’t know what locus it belongs to.
It’s strange because it looks like it belongs on the recessive white locus, but I really don’t know. @nicalandia can you tell us more?

Bobtail is recessive white based on brown

Brahmas of most coloures,

Brahmas of most coloures (I created white partridge in them. Using dominant white birds over exhibition penciled gold partridge). I plan on using several bobtail males (because the can pass on the sl gene to all offspring regardless of sex) to create the colour in brahmas. And I know I will succeed . I love a good project!

Black Jersey giants
Red shouldered yokohamas
Malay shamos
Pekins (bantam cochins if your in the US)
Polish crested
Seramas
And I've recently sourced some Dong Tao eggs

So that's the world's, biggest, tallest, heaviest, smallest, long tailed and soon to be the world's rarest chicken breeds all covered

Bobtail is Sex-linked Albinism, it's located on the Silver Gene.

Males can be: Split, S^al/s^al

Gold, Split, s+/S^al

Sex-linked Albinism: S^al/S^al



Females: S^al/-

Do you know how to enter this info in the genetics calculator and can you please share, if so .

I’m wondering what bobtail rooster over birchen hens would produce? Looking to improve type in the birchens…And if I breed this back to birchen or breed theF1s, if I’d get some birchen with better type?

There's other information saying that it's due to a mutation in the Recessive White allele, instead of Albinism.

So, not entirely sure what's actually correct. Still working on this subject.

Aren’t albinism and recessive white on the same locus? Because that would be why. I mean, recessive white is very similar to albinism, it just doesn’t effect skin or eye pigment.

Sex linked Albinism is with the Silver gene.
I struggle with wording, apologies.

There are two types of albinism. One autosomal located on the c allele, and there is a sex linked albinism allelic to the Silver/gold allele
