So we had 16 quail hatch. They were all drinking and eating fine. But the past few days they are passing, one at a time. I don’t see panting and they don’t pile on top of each other. I’m not sure what I’m doing wrong. Any insight would be appreciated. They are on chick starter but I do have a wild version on the way. Red heat lamp up as high as it can go. Thank you.

How warm is the brooder? Please give the temperatures of the warm and cold side.

You have a wild version of feed ordered and on the way?

I'm thinking by just looking at the photo, they are too hot, but could be wrong.
Hopefully others like @007Sean @Nabiki or @Kiki can chime in with some suggestions.

My first guess would be that you're overheating them with the heat lamp.
You mentioned having the heat lamp up high which would mean to me that it is heating the entire little brooder too hot.
Do you have a thermometer?

See I thought they were too warm too but it’s not even 95 in the brooder. I was thinking of using a mama hen heater instead of the lamp. The wild feed should show up today. Thank you for your reply!

I did but I accidentally stepped on it and it broke. I was thinking of using a mama hen heater instead

I'm sorry no one got back to you.

You need just one warm area for them, so if the whole brooder is 90-95(?) then it's too warm for them. They need a place where they can get out of the heat.
Totes can hold a lot of heat, so try moving your heat to one end or use the mama heating pad and see how it goes.
