Okay, you'll have to all pardon my excitement and excessive babbling (maybe?) I'm do to receiev a shipment of Quail eggs tomorrow or Wednesday and I'm super stoked! I've never hatched anything before. We got our incubator the end of last week and have it all sit up and ready to go. I do have a question before the eggs get here...We have a dehumidify in the room, should I set it at any certain % to help the humidity in the Incubator (cause the moisture in the air)??? What should the Humidity be for the Quail???

Thanks
Rachel

!
I've had the best luck with 45% humidity for bobwhites for the first 20 days, then bump it to 65-75% for the last few days. And all I can say is be patient... I've had bobwhites pip, then take 3 days to hatch.

You think they're not doing anything, then all of a sudden, as if someone fired the starting shot, they're all popping at once. Trust me on this.

I love my BWs.

What is your outside humidity like? What do you keep the house at? You may not even have to put water in the incubator...

Welcome Rachel!

I just hatched my first set of BW's yesterday and today. Ak bird is not kidding, once one comes out, it seems like they all follow. You can literally sit there and watch them "unzip" their egg shells. Mine were a package deal with my Hovabator, so far I only have two out of the 30 that have not done anything. They'll get an extra day just in case.

I have a humidistat in my bathroom as well, we turned ours off. We noticed that it would suck all the humidity out of the incubator. Good luck and keep us posted!

PS. The first ones out of the shells now call for me all night long. Its rather cute!

I'm excited!! I'm waiting on the e-mail to confirm that they have been shipped so I should get them by tomorrow. Patience isn't one of my strong spots! We have the icubator in the basement (otherwise my 2yr old would destory the eggs once he learned the top comes off!) I'll have to look and see. The basement probable stays around 70 degrees and it's rather damp down there without the dehumidifier. I'm super stoked, and can't wait to start hatching! wait I can't wait to get the eggs in the mail! I'll let ya know the humidy in the room and stuff

Okay so the eggs never arrived and had to re order. Should get them tomorrow!!! Our basement is 65 degrees and right now the dehumidifier is set at 55 percent...but we can lower it to leave more moisture in the air. Never hatched before i am pretty nervous. As soon as i get them can i put them in or do i need to wait sense they r being shipped?
