Can you raise bobwhites and coturnix chicks in the same brooder and then separate them later?

How do you feather sex bobs?

Can i keep them in the same size pen as Coturnix? My coturnix are in old rabbit cages and they seem to be fine in there. They have over 1 square ft per bird.

There's a hatchery nearby that i can get both coturnix chicks and bobs chicks from and i was just going to get coturnix. but i love listening to the bobs whistle. That's why i want to get some.

Any info on the differences/similarities in care for the coturnix/bobs would be appreciated. I'm finding it easy to care for my coturnix.

Yes, yes, no, yes,yes...NOPE!

You can raise coturnix and bobs together until about the 4th week...then the bobs will kill the coturnix. I recommend separate brooders, but because I know what I know....I did it, and learned the hard way...

As far as the pen size goes....I'm still learning here, (About bobs anyway) but most likely.

Bobwhites are an aggressive breed of quail and will need a space that is entirely theirs. It is best to keep them with 3 to 4 square feet per bird as they are also quite active. They will also kill each other during breeding season and will need to be paired off and each kept in their own cages. Generally, they can be combined after breeding season is over.

ugh... i just saw an ad in our local agriculture paper for a man about 30 minutes away that charges $4 a bird for ones that are flight conditioned. i'm guessing this means that they are good to turn loose in the wild? that's what i'd like to do. turn them loose and maybe bring the population up. I used to hear a covey of them up in the woods but haven't heard them in a long time.
