Live in Fort Worth area. New since December to raising quail and have bobwhites. Threw experience, when do they start laying eggs here? I have an 56 egg incubator.
I’ve started building a hatch out pen for the garage to pen chicks. Almost completed but looking ahead I’m trying to prepare.

I'm in central Mo. Mine haven' started yet. Hoping for around first of April. Seasonal layers.

But a buddy has some hatched out in July last year. That have extra light. They have been laying already for 3 weeks.

So when light gets to about 14 hours or so. They should start

So probably when daylight savings time then. Thought about putting a male and 3 females in one side w/light and see what happens but figured would probably stress then and not a good move if will start in a couple weeks or so.
Appreciate the response.

I live in western Oklahoma and i'm in close to the same boat as you. I started with 2 fem, 1 male bobwhite quail in late August. I now have 14 Corturnix that are about 8 weeks old. No eggs yet. Waiting on longer days and warmer weather, I guess.

I’ve started heavy with outside pen/coop. I have 6 male and 16 females of bobwhites. Anxious to see this new hobby grow.
Thanks and hope to talk near future.

Finally finished the garage growout pen/coop. 6’x2’x6’ with 2 separate areas and base to set incubator. Ready for eggs now. First time attempt and costly when not good at carpentry.
