Boer goats as pets?

We raise boer goats. I love them, their temperament is generally calm. They do get large, but, thankfully, they can be handled easily. I also have some dairy goats and these are the hardest to keep in the pens. Because of their heavy build, they are less likely to jump on cars and over fences. Of course, this is once they have grown out of the kid stage. I vote boer hands down.

Not dumb- I thought in the beginning that only a dairy goat gave milk for drinking-
I have been shocked to see the bag and teat size on some of my boers. My friend bought a dairy goat -first time freshener- who kidded at the same time I had a boer first time freshner kid. My boer's bag was twice the size. Of course, depending on genetics, some will give more milk and some less.

My Nubian boer cross was the sweetest guy (wether) that I could have ever wanted. He was a bottle baby though, and he thought he was a lap goat! Ceasar passed away this winter

but he will definitely never be forgotten!! We also have 2 (a brother and sister) boer/fainting goat crosses. What a pair! Their mom came from auction bred, and she had them on our farm, so they were handled daily, and are very nice goats... Nubian or boer - either way you'll have a nice pet! I think it's pretty much like anything else, it's all in how you handle things. Have fun!!!!
