Boggy Bottom Bantam's of Georgia 2010 hatching list

Hi Aubrey,
This weekend I attended a swap to sell some of my Phoenix Bantams, Ohiki and Mille Fleur Cochin Bantams. I sold many off. The farmers up where I live want large fowl heavy egg layers so large the Hawks can not drag them up and away and they want meat birds as well. I have only so many cages and can not enlarge my area currently.

I was selling off eggs I hatched, a half of dozen eggs that hatched and survived this Spring's orders and a couple from last fall's orders. A woman next to me looked over and pointed at my females and said those must be males because they have wattles and are not laying yet. I had to smile. I had already told her several times they are truely drawf and they were already laying and were being sold because they were partrige coloring or I had more than one of their type of coloring. She looked at them and anounced them too young to lay. She must have been comparing them to her Swedish Flower Hens in size or something. She was selling chicks the size of my adults pullets. All I could do was smile at her. I had other things in my mind because I had already told her several times they were fully grown.

Do I have a question for you? What exactly do you tell people when they act as if your girls and boys are still babes?
I am not letting go of all. I am keeping back some of my favorites as a hobby and as pets for me. I have to switch over to large Fowl for farmers. Large enough the hawks will not carry them off. I saw a couple of my darlings snatched right infront of me while I was cleaning coups. Oh, a small project of mine I am working on,.. Mating Marans with black and calico Cochin Bantams to get marans colored Cochin bantams. Since they both have boots and pants it is great. Tiny compact Marans. BUT I want to get small Jubilees and I can not get clean legs and feet mixing them with the Cochin Bantams. Size is small and that is great an the personality has the friendly Cochin Bantams also but theose boots and pants! Got to figure a way to get rid of thise boots and pants. Jubilee do not have boots and pants and I wanted small, very small and friendly jubilees. Can you make any suggestions?

Haha yeah some people just can't be reached. It depends on how snotty they are. I usually reply as they do haha.
In her case I'd ask if she knew what a bantam was and tell her the adult body weight. Then probably tell her that fine , I didn't want you to have them anyway lol.

I generally don't get that much cause I don't do public sells and swaps so the ones who come here generally know its all bantam here for the most part
Let me know if you need any info to set them straight !!!

LoL
I love Ohiki's maybe because their all that and more... Strike that... AND less.

That was my first swap. A real lesson.
I am going to try it again this Saturday and then decide if I am going to do it again.
I sold. No wait, they sold themselves. The prices were low bc I want to clear out over half. I need to raise what the locals want but I am not giving up what I love. I am keeping back 9 Ohiki roos and their women. And 5 Phoenix Bantam and their women. I am not a busy body and so I am letting the Chocolate Orpington Bantams do their thing and multiply on their own, they do not need me to direct them. I am going to wait till Fall to try again to add more fresh blood Chocolate Orpington Bantams. I need to make sure mine do not become inbred. I worry too much.
I need to close because I have many to pray for and I will be up to the wee hours of the morning praying for others. Thank you for your quick response. Good night.
