How do I prepare a button quail egg for eating? I want to try one of the eggs my button quail dropped, but I'm not really sure what to do. The button quail has also been mating, so the eggs may be fertile. Does anyone have any knowledge to share?

You can eat them like regular chicken eggs, they are just smaller. If they haven't been incubating, nothing is developing so you can eat them. You can collect enough eggs for a mini omlette, hard boil them (which is yummy because it's like eating jelly beans), you can feed the eggs back to the quail even. Pretend it's a tiny chicken egg and it works wonders.

Great. Also, do you know if peachicks can live with quails? If so, which ones? Also, I separated Tic into a different cage

. Well, actually the other way around. I got a really big cage with a bonk-proof top (it's REALLY big) and instead of $59.99, it was on sale for $25.99 because the Petco started putting everything on clearance. They got rid of all their birds. I kept Tic in his original cage and moved Chickapee and Tac to the larger one. The best part is that the bars are very tiny, so once the chicks hatch I will be able to put them back with their parents. Then, once there is a girl, I will put her with Tic and I'll start eating some eggs too. I feel like I'm a sicko- I tried one of my friend's button quail eggs that he made when I was at his place from two button quails I gave him a few years ago and now I have to try more! They taste so good, especially hard boiled.

So...you are planning to keep them in colonies after the babies hatch???? Or did I not understand correctly... the parents will not take care of them if you put the babies with them once you incubate them.

And quail and peafowl are not recommended to be housed together because of the size difference. I have my peafowl in a pen all by themselves.

Well, I've never had peafowl (way too noisy), but if they're anything like chickens, I imagine they would see button quail as a tasty snack. My chickens get the odd vole now and then, disgusting to me, but to them it's a gourmet treat.
