Aster said nothing more, but watched with interest as they rode the dragon through the sea. The trumpet startled her, so much so that water was covering her head before she understood what was happening. She gasped relentlessly and fought to lift herself from the dragon'a back."Nay! We be too far out to swim. Too far for you. We have a chance with the dragons. I know their legends like the back of me hand. It be a slim one, but we have a chance."
Once they were a mile from the ship, the dragon slowed to a lazy drift. Water spewed out its nostrils. Another trumpet, this time from the other dragon. Captain slapped his hands over his ears.
Silence fell. So quiet you could hear the water rippling over the dragon's sides. Then a glow. Faint, blue glow coming up from the depths. The beast began to lower itself in the water until its back was completely submerged. Captain stood, water lapping at his boots, as the glow came closer. And closer until it surrounded them. The sun had begun to sink low, and on the horizon, an island appeared Captain grinned.

It had taken a half an hour more than their attention span to get the thing started in the first place. One kid was running sticks together, another was using rocks. No one was really bothering to watch. The red-headed kid with the gun was supposed to, but he had gone off to do who knows what.
