Book Club: 2016 Reading Challenge!

    I finished #11 last night (book under 150 pages). It was "The Grown Up" by Gillian Flynn. I grabbed it was off the shelf of new books by the checkout at the last minute. I don't think I'd recommend it or read it again but it was something different from what I normally read. [​IMG]

    Challenge update...

    I'm more than 1/2 through "David Copperfield" by Charles Dickens. I've always enjoyed his stories and this one is no exception. It was published in 1850, definitely "100 years older than me" so when I'm through, it will count as #34.

    Anyone else have challenge updates?

    OK I've been reading like crazy!!! Bear in mind that I read lots of audiobooks; yes that's reading too!!! If anyone wants the list; I'll gladly email it to you. The idea is to get people to explore/ read different kinds of books. My challenge is to read 75 books this year. Please keep your recommendations coming! I love reading great books.

    38: Children Make Terrible Pets by Peter Brown
    46: Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone by J. K. Rowling
    61: Playing for Pizza by John Grisham (football)
    63: The Outsiders by S. E. Hinton ( She was 16 when she wrote it.)
    69: What Alice Forgot by Liane Moriarty (Amnesia; head injury)
    70: Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban by J. K. Rowling
    71: Heaven is Real: Lessons on Earthly Joy by Don Piper

    19. "You're Only Old Once" by Dr. Seuss (Book you can finish in a day).
    34. "David Copperfield" by Charles Dickens (100 years older than me)
    48. "Black Like Me" by John Howard Griffin (Book with a color in the title)...almost finished

    Looks like you enjoy the Harry Potter stories @Rosto . I've never read one or seen any of the movies, might have to keep one in mind on my next trip to the library.

    I love Harry Potter! The entire series is awesome, but I highly recommend the audio versions! Jim Dale does an award winning performance. He uses a different voice for every character making it incredible!!! This is probably my fifth time reading the series!

    7. "A Beautiful Place to Die" by Jeff Jackson (takes place on an island)
    11. "The Grown Up" by Gillian Flynn (Book under 150 pages)
    12. "Shipwreck at the Bottom of the World" by Jennifer Armstrong (Book about a road trip)
    19. "You're Only Old Once" by Dr. Seuss (Book you can finish in a day).

    48. "Black Like Me" by John Howard Griffin (Book with a color in the title)

    61. "A Miracle on the 17th Green" by James Patterson (Book about a sport)

    That's 9 books so far and I've started the 10th one.

    19. "You're Only Old Once" by Dr. Seuss (Book you can finish in a day)
    32. "Frankenstein: Lost Souls" by Dean Koontz (Sci-Fi)

    That's 10 books read and the 11th one is started (book set in my home state).

    Guess I'm doing this one on my own...that's ok, I like to read and this challenge is a good motivator.
