book questions on animals who can help?

Here is one on butchering that I have: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/0882663917/ref=ox_sc_sfl_title_4
I
ordered it from Amazon. It is written by a vet, with very clear, detailed drawings showing how to butcher almost any type of meat-including goat, horse, groundhog (woodchuck

), cow, pig, squirrel, rabbit, sheep, etc. I definitely recommend this one.

well, i have been doing side research and speaking to farmers and learning from people who deal with these animals. i need books, i like having physical information to fall back on and do not like relying on just memory and the computer.

it doesn't have to be that information exactly, it is just a broad range of things i am interested in learning. the butchering and such will likely have to be books on butchering and such by itself. the rest though i'm just looking for good books with broad range of information on each animal.

Books are great, but honestly they aren't going to give you the answers a lot of times.....only trial and error and hands on experience will do that. I've been a farm girl all my life so I really don't know how someone starts from square one to raise livestock.....it's just something I grew up doing.

your ag extension service should have some stuff available that will have a huge collection of papers and such. TAES (Texas Agriculture Extension Service) does them and they are great....used as your college text for several subjects and updated regularly...I have them for sheep, cattle, swine....um...yeah

i agree but i refuse to get animals without having a basic knowledge , good research, talking with people and experiencing at other farms, first, and books fit into my researching process.
