Hi there everybody! I searched around for a while and the only recent Booted Bantam thread I could find was specifically for Mille Fleur Booted Bantams... so here's a Booted Bantam thread for ALL colors and varieties!

I just got my first 3 pullets and 1 cockerel today. I know it's pretty quick to already be talking about them, but I've only had them for a few hours and already love them. They have incredibly docile personalities, and they are so pretty!

So far what I've discovered about them is this:

They differentiate from d'Uccles and d'Anvers in several ways. d'Uccles have muffs/beards, while Booted Bantams do not. And d'Anvers are clean-legged and rose-combed, whereas Booted Bantams are feather-legged and single-combed. But they are considered a "cousin breed" of both the d'Anvers and the d'Uccle from what I can tell.

They seem to come in quite a few color varieties, and they are very docile. They have very cute voices - even squeakier than most bantams I've encountered.

Here are my girls and boy. I was told they are descended from breeder/show quality stock, but are not standard colors - they are apparently culls from the breeder's ongoing color developing projects.

Older Splash(ish) pullet (look at that red comb/wattle! I think she's point of lay)

Well, those are mine. I certainly hope to breed/acquire more in the future, once I get around to expanding my bantam coop & run.

Let's see your birds, and hear what you know/think about the breed!

Those are awesome birds!

I hope to work with Booted Bantams soon, but its really hard to find them, let alone rare colors. I would love some suggestions on good breeders.

I hear they are also called Sabelpoots. They were used, with the d'Anver to create the d'Uccle.

Yeah, they seem to be rare. I just happened to be lucky and find a good breeder on Craigslist, in the area was just happened to be driving to that day. Not sure where you're located, but I found him on the SFBay craigslist out here in sunny California. He was the only one advertising Booted Bantams.

Sabelpoot, what a funny name. Maybe I'll name one of my new girls/boy that.
