Border Collie and Border Collie mix thread!

Aurora is a Husky/Border collie mix. Her mother was a pregnant stray in Pond Inlet, Baffin island and the dad was a big husky. Through a roundabout series of e-mails I got wind of the new owner searching for good homes for the pups and I leapt at the chance. Aurora now has eight acres to call her own and 12 chickens that she watches out for. It was a little dicey at first (remember the Husky part) but with a little patience, she quickly learned that they belonged to me and are not to be harassed. I'm thrilled at how well they all get along now. One year into the chicken biz and not a single predator has dared come near the coop. Except for the one black bear that came back three times trying to get into the feed.

All your dogs are super cute! I was wondering, has anyone had any problems with your border collie being agressive towards strangers? This thread is going great! Lets try and keep it going!

The only time Diamond's shown any sort of aggression towards people.. it was a shady looking repair guy. She stared him down the whole time, but never made a sound. My dad said it was very unusual behavior from her.

Quote:
Diamond loves soccer! She sometimes practices with the team my dad coaches. She can pick up and carry anything from a basketball and smaller.

Bridgit barks like all get out at strangers, until she smells them. But that's it

My dog Zoey barks at the strangers and then tries to bite them. So far she has bit twice. But it seems like she is more scared then mean. Because when the stranger leaves she is as lovable as can be. I dont know how to fix it. I mean she is the best dog when there arent any strangers around.

This is Luci. She is a borador (lab-border collie mix) she is an awesome pet and helps with hearding the chickens back in after free range.

She is 11 and still acts like a puppy

All of your dogs are gorgeous!! I don't think many breeds can live up to border collies in the looks department!

I've had 3 border collies and love them all so much!
My first bc (and the dog that still has my heart) was Barkley:

He was the smartest dog I've ever met (but also terribly stubborn). We ended up having to get rid of him after a few years due to his taste for chickens. We tried nearly everything to get him to stop killing our birds, but to no avail! I miss him, but he's with a new family that loves him just as much as I do. He's super happy!

The next puppy was Bullitt (the baby in the second picture of Barkley). I don't have many pictures of Bullitt because he would never hold still long enough for me to get a good picture of him. He was basically a little ball of energy and the sweetest puppy ever! Due to some personality issues between him and Barkley, we started to think that maybe one dog was enough for us. About that time, a family friend approached us about Bullitt going to live with them if we ever got rid of him. We weren't sure if we were going to give him up, but took it as a sign. They love him bunches! He's spoiled rotten there!

And now comes Rusty, my current border collie:

Lord knows that after we had to get rid of Barkley I was itching for another border collie. What can I say? I'm hooked on the breed! About March of this year, we got little baby Rusty! Honestly, he's not the smartest dog I've ever met, but he's a sweetheart and exactly what our family needs. He's super obsessed with squeaky toys and frisbees, has never gone after a chicken (knock on wood), and is actually very mellow.

I know I'll be getting more BCs in the future. Their intelligence just blows me away! It's almost like they understand English! I'll stop rambling now and end this post here!
