Border Collies, Australian Shepherds, All Herding breeds, Tell Me About Yours

Aussies do seem to have quite a sense of humor lol
That is one thing they do have. Always cracking jokes or laughing over something. I would miss that. My first one used to run between my legs and lift her head. She also would sit on the couch and flip backwards onto our laps.

Frankie was always acting grumpy to the other dogs than she would give me a chuff and a big smile when I told her to knock it off. She also used to gather up a bunch of rawhide and dump them in my husband's lap.

Sunny likes to use her head to toss the dog beds about, and always has a toy in her mouth. I wake up in the morning and she's sit there staring at me with a toy. She also rolls on the floor and make bear noises.

They are very entertaining and always there. Not a single one has been aggressive to my critters. Oh boy, I think I may have changed my mind already.

They sure sound amazing. :love

I’m thinking now maybe I need to go with one too lol

See as coat goes border or aussie can be long coated or smooth out here allot more are smooth now my belgians where similar but named otherwise also.. I choose to not get another belgian knowing I was not as fast as I use to be not sure I could keep up  but both need coat care

That is very true. Even with Border Collies, I have seen some very thick coated dogs that would rival Aussies LOL though these are mostly the show line ones. But still. Guess it depends on the individual dog or maybe the breeding because I’ve seen some more moderately coated Aussies. Did not know Aussies came in a smooth coat but have seen more lightly coated ones. I know BCs come in smooth as well as in between. I think somewhere in between would be nice. Never really been a huge short coated dog person although there is something to be said for the ease of coat maintenance and lack of picking up burs LOL

Although I wonder if they shed as much as Labs too and/or have the type of fur that gets everywhere.... because I always found the Labs and lab mixes shed way more than even the longer coated dogs I’ve had. The longer fur seems to tumbleweed into corners whereas with the Lab each individual little hair weaves its way into furniture and your food LOL

I think I have been convinced that another Aussie is the way to go even though I still love border collies. I love a lot of other breeds that I know would not be right for me. You have helped me remember stuff I had forgotten. Our border collie Brett was a wonderful dog, but another may be too much on me. Now I gotta find a ball playing Aussie. This time I will try for one out of working lines instead of show lines.
