I love Papillons. :love

I’ve always wanted one but they’re so expensive. :hit

Maybe one day.

I hear they’re like mini Border Collies. :lau

Kidding of course. I know they’re a totally separate breed and have their own wonderful qualities. But I’ve heard they’re super smart and energetic like a BC lol people think cause they’re small they don’t need much exercise but they’re very energetic lol

Its easier to deal with an energetic dog when they are very small, lol!

:lau very true!! We have a long hallway and a couple staircases and we also have kind of a loop/racetrack in that the hall also connects to the dining room and kitchen making a loop and we also have an island in the kitchen so you can make the loop bigger if you want to soooo..... I could send the dog around the loop or up and down the stairs a ton. :lau wears a little dog out faster LOL big dog... maybe. If you do it enough. :lau

My little dogs can get enough exercise inside if necessary. The bigger dogs just knock the furniture around if they try.

I haven't read all the posts but I gather the topic has moved off Border Collies.
There is breed I had, more or less, ignored thinking them a bit poodleish; that breed is the standard size Shnauzer. I've met a few and they have always impressed me. If I was considering a dog of my own in my later years they would be high on my list. They are smart, at least all those I've met were. They seem to be extremely stable dogs and very adaptable.
They also have characterful faces I find hard not to like which isn't the case with many dogs.

They are pretty cool dogs. And a Schnauzer descended from German Pinscher not a poodle if that helps?

Schnauzer are a great breed the giant is very stable get one from Europe Germany to be more specific they should be hand stripped do not have them clippered ruins the harsh coat makes them silky coated horrible

How much barking do they do? The neighbor dog is crazy, but they don't know how to handle dogs. I would assume they bark, but they can also be taught to be quiet? I am really starting to like the breed. Yours are gorgeous. :)

I would like a dog that plays ball. Do sheltie like to fetch?
I'm really starting to like their looks and size. :)
Shelties do bark, especially if bored. I find they bark more than border collies, but less than aussies. My high drive one barks more than my laid back one. They can be taught to be quiet also. When I had just one Sheltie he only barked when playing chase with kids. Multiple ones do tend to feed off each other with the barking. Just know that they are a more vocal breed.
Yes they can be taught to fetch and do love it. They love any game with their humans:hugs. The only thing I have found that most Shelties do not like is swimming. But some do.
