Border Collies, Australian Shepherds, All Herding breeds, Tell Me About Yours

They’re beautiful dogs.

I also like scotch collies/old time scotch collie (OTSC)/farm collies. And they usually have not as narrow faces which I like haha I also like English shepherds. I think they’re all similar. I get confused by all the farm collie type dogs cause a lot of them look really similar to Aussies and BC too. There is a lot of variation and overlap between breeds haha

I gotta look up Scotch collies. For some reason I don't quite like the look of the English shepherd. Not sure why. Maybe I like some flash. It isn't diamonds that catch my eye, it's a flowing mane of a dog.

I see a scotch collie is basically what a rough collie used to look like. I like them.

I used to want a wolf hybrid, but I learned they really aren't good pets. Wolves don't wish to be with humans the same was a dog want to. Even dogs that resemble wolves can be aloof, and trouble if you aren't prepared for that type of dog.

Anyone ever own a rough collie? Lots of coat on them. They have fallen out of popularity in the last couple of decades. It seems to have coincided with the heads getting more narrow? I saw one today watching Dr. Pol, pretty dog.

I was watching that same show myself. Pretty dog but oh dear the brushing it would need.

One word.....Leonberger.

Oh my, those are big hairy dogs, aren't they.

I think the Tibetan mastiff is much worse.

I like to think I would brush my dog more. You are probably right they are too hairy for me.

Well river has got a whole story about her...

When I lived in a different house a while back I had neighbors and they had a few kiddos who my sister would play with the kids family friend got the kids a puppy! (River!) the parents did not EVEN help the kids care for the puppy the puppy was WILD!!! It could barely walk, when on a leash it acted like a raccoon or opossum on a leash, and it was sick sick! Now my sister loved this puppy because she had a huge wolf obsession and here was a pup who looked like a wolf. One day the people decided to move and leave the puppy on a mattress sitting in a puddle of her pee sickly with no food...
We were told the people left so we went to the garage and rescued that puppy! We brought her to the vet who said she has worms... bad.. she probably won’t live for more than a couple days
But we nursed her to health it was hard she wouldn’t eat anything but meat and acorns lol but we did it and here she is at a lovely age of 14 years old


Vets have told us she is part wolf also she shows signs of wolf features

Dark black nose (no pink)
Long broad snout
Hates fetch
Non floppy close together furry ears
Webbed feet
Leggy legs
Also
She’s never full barked she does a sound that is 70% howl and 30% bark
And more

Also when she was young she would run run run super fast and her fur is super super thick

Now I have no proof she has wolf but I like to believe she has a little

I think she is gorgeous.
We have a River too.

Absolutely only remote wolf ancestry since they say all dogs came from wolves.....
