Bored chickens-chicken block?

Hmmm... now you've got me thinking...

I make egg bread for mine that is pretty hard, not as hard as those block things, but pretty hard. I wonder if I could just add a cup of scratch to the following recipe? I think I'll try it tomorrow.

Egg Bread

10 eggs or egg yolks
1 cup oatmeal
1 cup cornmeal
1/2 cup wheat germ

Preheat oven to 300. Grease and flour bread pan. Mix ingredients and bake for 1 hour.

I was wondering if it might work to melt some type of suet or lard as part of the binder...sort of like those little suet & seed cakes you can buy for winter birds like woodpeckers...but hopefully harder and more dense.

hi..it sets up very hard(it makes like a solid block)..if you cook it enough..it just kept on hitting the 5 min button on the microwave..it took awhile....i just kept testing the hardness with my finger..and after it cooled down..it got even harder...i suppose you could make it as soft or as hard as you wanted though...i just make it hard so they have to really peck at it...and work at it..lol..

...i have those suet wire holder things..i plan to cut the block to fit right in the suet holder..
