Yea all quail seem pretty pointless to butcher to me

Coturnix especially jumbos get enough meat to butcher in my eyes. Especially for a beginner to meat birds or someone who only has room for small birds

Coturnix and then bobwhites.
I kinda sorta eat em so maybe the extra tiny ones won't work

I heard bobwhites were pretty aggressive though

That was what I figured out and that's why I haven't bothered to get more.
I liked keeping mine as more of a pet, even tho he was a meanie and I could never keep other quail with him.

True, but the "jumbos" only weigh like 10 ounces, so it's still pretty pointless if you ask me

Yeah they were a mess. I would only keep them if I had a large enclosure with lots of hideaway holes for them. My set up was too short and they actually injured themselves trying to beat the other ones.

The first time I saw coturnix in real life I was surprised how small they were. I saw them at a chicken show and they were smaller than my hand, and they were in a box made of chicken wire and were able to fit their heads through the chicken wire. They are about twice the size of buttons but still pretty small
