Both my ducks have been panting unless in the pool.

frozen water bottles do wonders in waters. I do this for my ducks and chickens both have a five gallon waterer that i put 2 frozen water bottles in every morning. Pekin ducks grow very fast. I have one with my Kakis and he pants alot. I added a mister to my chicken run and since there pen is in front they have two misting jets . the pekin duck is always in the mist or in the kiddie pool. its been really hot here today I went for a swim and went and got my pekin duck and tossed him in my pool he spent the whole day on deck and in the pool with me...

Yay pond! Oooo, I like that cobblestone pathway. I'm sure the duckies will love it SO much! And you're in Everett, eh? That's not too far from me, maybe someday we can have a duckie playdate <3

As for you Martinez, that does sound nice, but I remind you Bean is afraid of watermelon. Watermelon! She'd probably have a conniption fit if she saw an ice bottle, lol! I like the mister thing, though. There's a bubble fountain at my local park and the ducks looooove to run through it and try to snap up the globs of water.

Yeah that be awesome!! Donald is the scarred one and freaks out if you pick him up but will eat out of your hand. Daisy is a little less shy but follows Donald's lead a lot. Trying to get him to trust us more. He is very timid.

Ducks are funny like that. Bean's a fraidy-duck and Wobbles doesn't know HOW to be a duck, so they have this strange dichotomy together where she'll look to him for what's good to eat or not, and he looks to her to learn duckish behaviors like flapping his wings and swimming in the tub! I just love how silly they are, I dunno why it took me so long to get these birds, they're awesome.

They are super precious. Do you have pics? Mine are still babies but their white is starting to really come through!! Here's a pic of the pond coming along.

Everything is still a work in progress. My finance has a really bad back & money is really tight right now. We still have to build a duck house. There isn't enough shade but there is shade. The duck wont go to it though & I have to chase them to the water if they are panting too bad. Their bills & feet get really hot. Im new to owning ducks & chickens.

Hi and welcome to BYC! Your set up looks pretty good so far. I like your nest boxes made out of buckets. Do you have any more plywood or something to build a simple A-frame shelter for shade? They might hang out under there if they get too hot.

They love the pond. Still need to build them a house. They are in their watermelon box haha. Which seems to work fine. I have noticed the panting anymore which is good. How hot is it where you are? Nice set up
