Bottom-heavy runner duck

She sure is precious, I sure do love my Runners. That is def not normal for Runners. If fluid didn’t come out fat may and can be looked like under a microscope. I am not sure if fluid would look like on Xrays. When my dog had what looked like a tumor come up a needle was put into it and fluid was drawn out looked at under a microscope and it was found out to be a fatty tumor.

Yes, my Sheltie's lipomas (fatty tumors) were tested that way too and were subsequently removed. How old is this duck? Can you move this lump from side to side at all under the skin?

She’s around 3 and a half years old.
I can’t tell if it can be moved or not since it takes up her entire belly area— trying to grab hold of it and push it side to side just ends up moving the whole bird.

That's what I was thinking too. Fatty tumors can happen in people too in all kinds of places and are usually excised just for aesthetics.

That little runner sure is beautiful! Her colors are so unique! I'm glad she's not exhibiting symptoms of anything painful. I'm wondering if a dose of calcium gluconate would do any harm in this situation. Don't do it until someone else with more experience looks at this like @casportpony.

Can't help but fall in love with your little Bee she is adorable. But that sure can't be comfortable carrying that weight down there and possibly pressing on internal organs. I'm not sure what can be done other than testing what may be drawn out. But that is def not normal. Maybe take a pic of a normal looking Runner in to show your vet what is normal. Do you have more Runners besides Bee?

I haven’t had a chance to ask my vet if she’d be willing to draw anything off yet since she’s only in the office once a week and is the only avian vet within an hour of where I live. It’s a real pain in my side trying to get ahold of her.
I don’t have any other fullbred runners, but I do have Bee’s daughter, a half Rouen, half runner.
Thankfully Bee doesn’t seem to care if I touch her belly. The biggest issues seems to be that it limits mobility (can’t climb into pools, falls down steps instead of hopping, etc) and that it’s always resting on the ground so she has little ducky skid marks. I’m also concerned that it might compact an egg again if she ever produces more.
