I’m a little confused as to why the veterans have not yet said that in the absence of a male, a female will take over the role.
A female chicken will even crow.

Butt poking is not a part of drake foreplay or duck sexuality. Realistically she just wants them to get out of her way and has discovered that butt pecking works.

From the tone of your post I take it no one is getting hurt (?)
I can understand why your search query may not have produced any results, Google after all is rather conservative. Have you tried the DuckDuckGo search engine?

I would take some videos of this behavior, buy a small pickup and convert the back into a shallow pond and take the ducks on tour to gay rights meetings. You would probably make a few bucks.

No one is getting hurt... unless ducks have pride... in which case that might be a little dented

In a flock of Ducks always a head Hen and the others follow..With or without a Drake.
Definitely just bossy and knows how to get her way..

Can’t shed any light on YOUR particular situation, but I DID have a pair of gay ducks....2hens and 2drakes, and the drakes were SO HORNY ALL THE TIME! They mounted the hens, mounted the chickens, mounted the dog (no success there!) and finally mounted each other - full on, one guy flat on the bottom and the other guy finishing his business on top!
No shame in them either, they’d do it in the coop, in the lake,
ON THE DRIVEWAY WHILE I TALK TO A CUSTOMER! Then, to top it all off, they’d both run around with their little curly duck wieners hanging out quacking like mad....and I’m left explaining it to whoever witnessed the show.

I meant the bottom poking is a way to control them. Mounting is also dominating in the absence of a male.
