Bought 2 goats from auction and their butts are crusty.

The scours may be just from the stress of moving. That happens. How is she acting? Is she alert? Is she eating good? If it turns out she does have cocci, treat the whole herd.

She's eating well. Comes running as soon as she sees me coming out to feed. She is alert and walking around.

I have a doe that's pregnant, would it be fine to treat her too while pregnant?

Probably. Read the label. If you have any doubts or any questions ask your vet or call the customer help line. Find out if cocci is a problem before you do anything. If the scours are just caused by stress, they should clear up promptly.

Ok I'll do that. The vet should open in about 8 hours:barnie:th
Its 12:30am here in Texas. So I have a few hours to wait before I can take a stool sample. But I will let you know what ends up happening. Hopefully it's nothing too serious and is treatable:fl

I would be interested to know what the results are. I am sure it is nothing serious and is treatable. Sometimes the best treatment is simply tincture of time. Relax. Take a deep breath. Maybe fix yourself a cup of tea or hot cocoa and get a good night's rest.

Since when has there been a vaccine for CAE? I had no idea one was available. That would be great news if there is. As for your goats, I would have a fecal done to check out worm load and check for cocci.
Yea, I don’t think there is a vaccine either. I’ve only ever read that you separate them, and treat them, and, if need be.....you know...:(

but I agree about worm load. Check her FAMASHA eye test, to see how pink they are, and check for cocci...but I would start treating her with electrolytes from the feed store and probiotics right away!!

i just read the whoooole post. I hope it is just the stress!
