I bought at the local poultry auction on tuesday a "lot".It consisted of 2 banty birds.I was ONLY interested in a rose comb hen who I was QUITE taken with. She was in a cage with a banty roo.He LOOKED like a minature silver laced wynadotte with silver ruff. Old guy next to me said he was "japenese".Whatever I only wanted the hen.So I took them home and they are in my quarantine cage together. I take them out in the sun during the day and back inside at night.

I originally thought I would sell the roo. I HAVE a rosecomb roo and a leghorn roo, who have no issues with each other.I bought the hen for my rosecomb roo. Anyway when I move the cage the roo goes nuts he flies UP trying to get at me (I think).Anyway yesterday my DD took the hen out (we adore her)OMG rosster was SOOO mad. When putting her back in the quarantine cage he flew at me again.

So now I am wondering is he just super aggressive, super protective, or just a new surrondings thing.I WAS thinking maybe I would keep him, but he crows RELENTLESSLY!!! He crows more than when i had 5 roos!!! So far I have only run into 1 nasty roo. This guy i the size of a softball. So not too worried.

I wanted to eventually put the rose comb hen with my roo , but she seems bonded to this roo. Do you guys ever break up happy not full blooded pairs???

I am starting to feel guilty about breaking them up. The roo IS protective of her. SO do I just sell the little roo or what?
