We purchased some chickens from a lady who said they were large seramas. She had silkies and these and they surely are not mixed with silkies. If they are a mixed breed all she had must have been mixed. We had chicks and tried selling them and the person who came said they are not seramas because their chest is not high enough. Hopefully someone can help identify them. Thanks!

I tagged some of our breed identification specialists (no, that's not a real thing that I'm aware obut they're awesome at breed ID) and sexperts (experts at gender ID, also not a real thing, but it makes me laugh)
I hope this helps 😉

They’re most likely purebred seramas. They’re just pet quality ones, probably bred from other pet quality ones. If you want to sell their chicks, put pictures of the parents in the ad and include the fact that they are pet quality.
It is possible they’re all serama mixes, but they don’t really look that way to me.

Also, a few of them have scaly leg mites, which you may want to look into.

I have been treating the scaley leg mites. That’s how I got them. They actually are a whole lot better than when we got them. So it sounds divided if they are purebreds or not.

seramas come in all colours and only the show quality Malaysian ones really do the tall head back to tail stance from what I've seen. And even in Malaysia there are body types, apple, tall, slim and dragon. In the rest of the world they seem to be more normal chicken shaped.

They are not silkie crosses. Just normal pet quality seramas which is what you get everywhere outside of the Far East now
