Bought my bator just now!

Letisha, My bator is listed as "out for delivery" and not a moment too soon. I have been watching some Cochins hatching eggs on Ebay and realized the man lives just 20 miles away. He has fresh 1.5 dozen Partridge and Sliver laced standard size Cochin eggs that did not sell so I contacted him and asked if I could pick them up. I would much rather pick them up then chance a rough delivery by the post office, not to mention I say 30 dollars in postage and he saves a seller fee!

I think Im hooked?

I have 2 coops, one for my New Hampshires that are 4 months old and the other is for my aging laying flock which I plan on replacing the year. So about the time the Cochins will be ready my New hampshires will be taking over the laying. My In-laws live next door and my father in-law said one day we need 300 chickens, but I think the 30 hens will be just right. My extras I will take to the auction .

Jessie that is great. I wish someone 20 mins from me had some Showgirls, I would much rather have pick-up eggs than shipped for my first go at hatching. Have you hatched anything before? I found this really good thread and plan to print some of the links off and start studying.

I ordered my egg off the auction section here, from cjexotics. And when I saw my name in the 10/11 slot I was giddy like a school girl. I wanted to run cheap eggs first but it is less costly to buy the eggs I want than to feed chickens I don't want for up to 6 years. That is assuming I acutally pull this off and some do hatch. Good luck with your eggs and the bator. I was going to run bator empty and watch for spikes or drops as soon as I got it till the egg get here. You will have to post a hatch thread and send the link to me so I can keep up with your frist hatch. I plan to set my eggs around 10/14 or so.

Got my bator and have assembled and adjusted it.It came packaged great now I am All set to go pick up my eggs!

I picked up 13 partridge cochin and 8 silver laced cochin straight from the breader. I am now waitng for a call to get a dozen EEs from a friend. I will wait till tomorrow night only then I'll load the bator (I have it running right now).
