Hello Friends,

I bought 40 quail hens 3 days ago. All are in the age of laying.. About four months. I saw a lots of eggs in supplier's cage when I go to buy them. But I did not get any eggs yet. Supplier said it will take upto ten days to start laying eggs since cage is changed. Is this true?

Not sure on the precise number but they won’t lay for a bit with a change in environment and setting.

It can take up to two weeks for them to settle in and start laying again. If they have any stress, they might wait longer.

2-3 weeks is not out of the ordinary and may also need supplemental light depending on your location

yep, completely normal. Just let them settle in and they'll all be laying soon.

I hope you have plans for the eggs! I've had that many layers in the past, and you run out of places to stash them. lol

.... so true. As I have no one, who wanna buy quail eggs, I give more that the half to a friend, who is working in an animal park as feeding suply for predators and pigs.

They are so thankful, as they have no income (no visitors) due to corona lock-down.

Depending on where you are, there could also be not enough daylight for them. As well as changing areas, both of this could cause them not to lay.
I had some quail hatch in early November, but I decided not to give them supplemental lighting so I'll be waiting a while for eggs lol.

Honestly, I've witnessed hens go off laying for up to a month after a big disruption in their environment. With patience (and minimizing bird stress—lots of space, sand bath, etc.) they'll get there.
