Bought three chicks that we were told were hens--but it didn't turn out that way....

Chickpea is a beauty. time for more hens.

Chickpea and your Brahmas are beautiful! I now have 24 chickens because 2 of the pullet chicks turned out to be the kind that will never lay any eggs. A coop and pen has now turned into 2 pens and a divided coop, each roo has his own space and flock of hens. So sweet Chickpea likes to be picked up.

I think the moral of the story is, if you want to be sure you're getting a hen and not a rooster, you have to wait to buy the chickens until their older.
My idea of getting chicks was to hand rear them as I enjoy the interaction with pets and I've had some very smart chickens.
Next time I'll just buy and older bird!
