OK, this is gonna be a lot, sorry in advance.
So I've had multiple sets of runner ducks, usually m/f pairs. This time I went with just a single female. She's about 4 months old, and so far NOT like my other ducks. 1. She HATES no LOATHES to be outside. If I put her out, she quacks at the door until I let her in again (even if I'm out in the yard). 2. She will come up to me and climb all over me to get food/snacks and eats out of my hand no problem but I can't pick her up or even pet her. She hates to be touched. 3. She will not eat anything but her ground meal food from the feed store, and not after it's wet (I put cut corn in it because I think she might be getting too fat.) and organic cheesy crackers. (VERY rare on the cheesy crackers since I'm not sure if they're unhealthy) I've tried spinach, tomatoes, peas, meal worms, fresh corn, strawberries, celery and fruit treats from the pet store (for birds) She tries a bite, then slings her head until it's out of her face. and last, she hates water. Bath time, pool time, shower, and sprinkler. I've tried em all. I put her in the tub with water (tried warm and cool) and all she wants to do is try and get out. If I get into the tub with her, and close the shower curtain, she'll at least bathe a little, but as soon as the curtain is open, she's out. I can't help but wonder if it's because she didn't have a duck companion. She's completely imprinted on me, she SCREAMS if she can't see me and follows me closely all over the house, and loves to ride in the truck. I have held her and loved on her from day 1. (she was 2 days old) I try and bring people over to socialize her, and never let anyone or anything chase her. (She really is fearless) and interacts with me and my husband constantly, she just hates to be touched. If we do pick her up gently or just pet her while talking to her sweetly, she immediately feels the need to inspect and comb every single feather. My friends joke saying she's just pampered and bougie, but I would like her to be a little more affectionate or at least tolerant. I'm open to any ideas (but a second duck that is, hubby says 1 is PLENTY lol.)
