They are so tall and seem to get into EVERYTHING! lol They seem to be able to get into tighter places than my other ducklings did, they can climb out of everything...

But I love it.

They even learned that they're tall enough to pick the lid off their waterer (which is temporarily a 44oz QT cup) and try to climb inside. How do you keep up? lol

How much harder are they as adults? I relish every minute of it, don't get me wrong, but it would nice to have a heads up on things I may have to worry about later on! lol

Here's pics from today, they're growing already!

And just about to take the lid off the waterer...

Thanks! Our family is rather taken with them. They have such silly, laid back personalities. Not sure if that's the breed, or the fact they were well socialized before we got them.

They are great. All the ones I ever had were like that. Yours look good! I may do some "trouts" again someday. I love the third pic. That says it all!

Good to know they look good, and that the personalities are more breed specific. This is our first venture into Runners, and I'm hooked. I thought I had finally picked a breed to stick with (Saxony) and now I think I may have been converted to Runners as well!

I think the third pic is of Skillet, he is the tallest of all of them. However, when they stand up right, they are all real tall. lol

I'm still trying to understand the whole Runner color genetics thing. I know "trout" is a variant of color, but I am a little unsure as to the specifics. I can't wait to see how these guys turn out color wise.

Again I say.." STUPID WORK COMPUTER" blocking photos from coming up... I will have to come back later to look at the photos.

Runners ARE adorable babies. I often have one in a hatch that will be very " affectionate" always first to the side of the brooder when I approach- wanting to be picked up. Regualar handling does keep them very socialable. I hate having to put them outside with the flock as they do go through a stage of " I dont need my momma anymore" ..... But they do come around again and will soon be eating from my hands and walking all over me when a feed them once they estabish their place in the flock.

I know!! I'm already dreading moving them outside! Part of me wants to buy Netties diaper harnesses and keep them with me forever!

I'm already sad every time I go outside now and get attacked by my Pekin drake. He's such a brat during breeding season. I've finally started getting the best of him by holding him down 10 times while I am outside, but it stinks I even have to, ya know? They get so darn independent. I just hope these guys come back around, like yours, and are still affectionate after leaving the "nest" so to speak.

Sorry your work blocks photos, that's just WRONG! lol

I love my Runners, they are so different than my pekins. The Runners are excitable at the slightest thing. Today I left the gate open to the pen that the ducklings and goslings are going to go into. They were in there all wooowooowwooooing all over the place, running all over, inspecting every inch of it. It was like hell we better hurry and check it out before she sees us then as soon as I walked in there they ran out quacking like they were laughing at me. They RUN everywhere. Today they got to go outin the yard..well the secadas..or what ever they are called are out just now, they ran head down all thru the yard picking them up and gobbling them down, all in an excited frenzy. They amuse me no end every day. Your going to love it once they are outside and all grown up running round all over the place while your other ducks waddle at a steady pace without a care in the world.

YES!!!! Nettie's diapers are awesome!!!! Daffy gets quite angry if we are home and she isn't out of her box playing with us! She is sitting on the back of my couch watching the news right now while I type!!

I have 5 adult runners outside. I love them like crazy.... but.... sometimes certain animals work their way into our hearts in a different way. Daffy is just part of the family. She is scared of other ducks but loves to hang out with our black lab!!! I have baby ducklings all over my house right now and she keeps yelling at us "Mom there are ducks in the house AAAA!!!" (SSSShhhhh.... we just don't tell her that she is one too!!)

I have polished floorboards in my house - I just stick one of my daughters old bed covers ( the ones with cartoon animals she no longer uses now she is 15 lol ) on the floor and let them run around. If I started putting nappies on my ducks...next thing would be I would give up my job just so I can stay home with them all day since they are in the house.
Its hard enough leaving the babies all day - but its great to have them to come home to each day too.

I sometimes take my laptop to work just so I can log on to the blocked sites...but now tonight a storm has brought down my phone lines...so I am very glad I have a laptop with wireless connection. That first photo to just way too darn cute. And the water is just so clean..my guys always have the water messed up in moments after getting in a tub.
