I was wondering if anyone can tell if my silkie is a boy or girl. My husband is convinced it’s a boy because of its head feathers. I’m new to chickens and have a couple silkies. They are all much bigger than this little guy. It’s also very calm.

The head feathers don't really mean anything. Silkies are REALLY hard to sex. Even at around 10 weeks old it can be hard to tell the difference.

I had one rooster silkie years ago and I thought it was a girl for at least 9 months until I seen it crow. I also thought my hen was the rooster crowing so I’m terrible at being able to tell.

Yeah, unless you've owned silkies for a long time it's very hard to tell. Male and females both have black combs so you can't look for color changes and they also have walnut combs which makes it even harder. They also don't have the typical saddle or hackle feathers like normal chickens do.

Oh no! Yes I’m in love and yes it’s name is chick pea. So far all of mine act like boys except for chick pea. But all my chickens have names and o love all of them.
