Boy or girl?

Becuase they're all pointy-ish feathers on the back, right? Learn something new every day!
It's weird because they seem kind of pointy and then I compared it to all my other girls and my Salmon Faverolle hens have pointy-ish feathers and they are definitely girls because they've been laying for a couple years haha. I literally obsess over this every day because this one is so sweet and I'll be heart broken if I have to rehome. I know a friend got 2 roosters that were supposed to be pullets and by 18 weeks which this one is you could definitely tell they were boys. You could spot it at like 6 weeks already.

Junebuggena is what I would call a pro, so if junebug says something I want to throw that into my own knowledge bank for future use!

My BLRW rooster was clearly a rooster by 4.5 weeks and crowing by 5.5 weeks. Now this new EE rooster that I am giving away has yet to crow, but started ticking all the other rooster boxes at 10 weeks. Every chick is different I guess.

I know what you're going through. I was completely attached my BLRW, Tookie, even though I had only had him for a few weeks. I cared for him when he had injured himself, he slept in the palm of my hand whenever I held him. When it was clear that I had a suprise roo I was absolutely panicked and heartbroken. I live in city limits and roosters are not allowed, so I put him on Craiglist and I actually got a taker... But I couldn't do it. I went the No-Crow collar route. I check it and him 2 to 3 times a day because he's still growing. It was a process to get us where we are today with the collar, but so far it has been a perfect solution.

I'm not sure why you can't have a rooster, but if your chicken ends up being a roo don't give up hope. There are options if you're able to put a little time into the process.

Fingers crossed and seriously hoping you have a girl. Big internet hugs too!

I've already said if it's a rooster I am trying a no crow. Due to noise ordinance we can't have roosters. If I can get my rooster if that's what she/he is not to crow it will be fine. I have a Salmon Faverolle that loves the sound of her own voice but she's not very loud and it's usually just in the afternoon. We call her our Drama Queen. I would just think at 18 weeks there would be other signs but I'm by far no expert and this is my first Olive Egger or whatever it is. Was supposed to be an Ameraucana. It has no interest in any of my hens even the one I got with it. They lay together like some of my others did and are glued at the hip but thats it. Again fingers crossed and pray to the chicken gods it's a girl.
