This may be a silly question; but will my 3 pullets still lay if there is a rooster there?

And are they fine to live together?

Yes, they will still lay eggs. The rooster should be fine to live with them too, in fact I would recommend it. It's very rare for a rooster to actually be mean to his hens. More likely he will defend them from predators. You might separate them for a while if you notice the hens getting big bald patches on their backs from mating all the time, just to give your girls a break. Otherwise, should be good
