I really want my little frizzled bantam cochin to be a girl. However, I am starting to worry... He/she is 7 weeks old now. Any ideas?

Thanks for telling me what I want to hear

. I am worried about the red in the wattles (best visible in the second picture) but really have no idea how to assess that since this is my only cochin. So nothing to compare it to.

Cool, thanks! She really is a pretty little thing, but even better she also has the best personality!

I am so glad I finally got around to having my own account with BYC (and actually posting!), instead of stalking these pages in what my husband refers to as my "chicken porn habit"

Looks like a girl from my experience! I'm a newbie too. We have white leghorns, a cockerel ended up in our flock. At 7 weeks he had the largest comb and the only one with wattles, and let out to bad crows haha.

Had to give him away though

. I hope to get 2 or 3 cochins, how is the personality of that frizzle cochin?

Our little Whoopie has a great personality! She is very sweet, alert, and loves to be picked up. I always thought that the Silkies are supposed to be the lapdogs of the chicken world, but in this group (2 Silkies, 1 Polish, 1 Maran, 1 SLW) this little Cochin is definitely the sweetheart.

Think it's a girl too.I have 8 about the same age and the 2 Rios have really obvious red combs and wattles compared to the girls.
