Like Magnolia said, no male necessary. My Khaki’s started laying a little over four months old. When they first start laying you may find eggs all over the place. Not necessarily hidden, more like “oops, I thought I was going to the bathroom and out popped an egg. Later, they sometimes hide them, especially in the spring. You can encourage them to lay were you want them to by having a nest box with dummy eggs in it. I just use rubbermade dish pans filled with pine shavings and wooden eggs from the craft store I painted white. It also helps to keep them locked in the morning until they are done laying. My girls are one to four years old and most of the eggs are in the box in the morning but I still find odd ones in random places. My family prefers duck eggs to chicken eggs btw. I love them.
