How much feed should 17 day old chicks be going through per day (starter medicated mash)

That depends on breed and type of feeder I think. My 15 chicks (all layers no meaties) that are about 1-1/2 months old have just about finished their first 50# bag of starter.

I have 25 chicks at 3 months old. I have a 5 gal feeder. I fill the feeder about every 3 days. My 50# bags of Starter/Grower last for around 2/3 weeks.

I was told that a good way to figure it is, each chick goes through about 10 lbs of chick feed in its first 10 weeks of life, so about 1 lb each week per chick. I think that includes what they waste by kicking it onto the floor into their pine shavings...

My 41 that hatched over the weekend are eating a quart of chick starter every day..overall though we feed a few hundred pounds a week.
